You have hidden your smile for the last time! After years of living with compromised teeth, you are ready to reclaim your confidence and your smile. Cosmetic dentistry has solutions and you can create the smile you’ve always wanted with porcelain veneers in Bay Shore. Here’s how your team at East Islip Dental Care can help!
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Dental veneers are micro-thin layers of porcelain that are custom designed to fit over your teeth. They can change the shade, shape, and size of your teeth and they’re ideal for repairing issues such as:
- Gaps and spacing between teeth
- Discoloration and staining
- Size discrepancies
- Misshapen teeth
- Slight misalignment issues
- Small fractures or chipping
- Excessive wear
Veneers are durable and easy to care for, as you’ll be able to brush and floss with ease as you were used to. They are stain resistant and don’t discolor at the rate of a natural tooth, so you won’t need to whiten your teeth. They also offer great longevity, as with great home care and regular dental checkups, they can last for 10-15 years, and even longer in some cases.
Completing the Process
Your new smile with porcelain veneers can typically be completed in two appointments over a period of 2-3 weeks. After our dentists have worked with you to design your new smile, they’ll prepare your teeth for your veneers.
You’ll leave wearing a temporary set, which will allow you to get used to the feel of them and how they look. This is a good time to suggest any changes you’d like to see to your dentist so it can be communicated to the dental lab that is handcrafting your permanent veneers.
When your final restorations are completed, you’ll return to our office to have them permanently placed and any necessary adjustments will be made at this time. Then you’ll be ready to share your new smile with the world!
